I don't totally agree with you, however you do make a good point about the AP and her speaking to the police for 8 hours.

I think there was a bad plan that devolved into the Cluster F that has been reported.

The AP certainly hurt her case by speaking to the police. I'll posit if she had simply STFU, her and BB could still be playing house.  The public and police would be super frustrated but without her statements the DA likely wouldn't feel he/she could prove a crime against herbrd.  The DA doesn't currently feel like they its case against BB.

RE BB not speaking to police:

Most, if not all, LE are trained not to speak to anyone immediately following a use of force event.

I also think that if BB was innocent, like for real innocent, he and his attorney(s) would have sat down for an interview with police.  [/quote]
