Addison and Madison are whole siblings. Their dad is married to Caleb and Sabastian's mom so the four oldest are stepsibings. Addison and Madison's dad and Caleb and Sabastian's mom had Olivia together and then adopted Lola and Chloe from China. (These are my neighbor's kids' names btw)[/quote]

Olivia: Latin name meaning "olive tree," and the feminine alternative to the boy name Oliver. Records of the name Olivia date back to 13th-century England. Its initial popularity might be attributed to the beautiful, sought-after heiress in William Shakespeare's play, Twelfth Night.

Lola:  A pet form of Dolores, which is Spanish for "sorrows". Lola is popular in the music world: English rock band The Kinks released a song called "Lola" in 1970, and Mcfly drummer, Harry Judd, has a daughter named Lola. The moniker also features in several cartoons, being the name of Bugs Bunny's girlfriend, and one of the main characters in "Charlie and Lola".
Chloe: Chloe is the English form of the French name Chloé. Both versions are derived from the Greek Khlóe, which literally means 'young green shoot' (of a plant) and which has been interpreted as meaning 'blooming'.

The biological mom of Addison and Maddison graduated from Colombia law school and works for a public interest law firm on K Street. It is a private, for-profit association of lawyers, like any other private law firm but it is distinguished from private firms in that its primary mission is to assist underrepresented people or causes, rather than to make money. Since 2016, the vast majority of cases have been hate crimes. This hard working idealist lobbied the U.S. Attorney For D.C. to increase prosecutions against hate crimes, which they finally did in 2020. Being so busy and stressed fighting for clients whose lives were often derailed by mindless hate took its toll on the marriage and the couple parted company amicably.

Addison and Maddison names were chosen for their appeal as being gender neutral, and traditional but modern and crisp.

The biological mother of Caleb, Sebastian and Olivia who is the step mother of Addison and Maddison, and the adoptive mother of Lola and Chloe, is a professor of English Literature and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at George Washington University. The names of youngest children who are adopted from China symbolizes the high value their mother places on women, girls and  their friendships with each other. Her favorite female author Virginia Woolf (1882-1941) was known for her revolutionary modernist fiction, but she also played a pivotal figure in women’s literary history. Woolf delivered the comprehensive essay “A Room of One’s Own,” as a lecture to a female audience at Newnham College, Cambridge, encouraging women to “have the habit of freedom and the courage to write exactly what we think.” In chapter five of her essay, Woolf proposed the then revolutionary concept of friendship between two women. While reading Mary Carmichael’s fictional novel Life’s Adventures, Woolf is interrupted by the statement “Chloe liked Olivia.” Although this appears simple, ‘Chloe’ and ‘Olivia’ represent a proposition for the renovation of relationships between women. Previously, unless the relationship between two women was a cat fight of sorts, the relationship of two women was not discussed in literature. Oftentimes, the relationships between women in literature illuminate women detesting each other. Woolf continues by stating, “Chloe liked Olivia” perhaps for the first time in literature.

Part of this training involves educating others that any adopted children are real siblings of any biological children, and that adoptive parents of different races are real parents.  Real parents are the ones who educate, clothe, feed, love and care for children whether or not they are biological parents.

Another part of the training involves providing strategies for children of divorced parents to maintain good relations with both parents and to embrace and respect new step parents and their children without alienating biological parents.
