I don't know ANY teachers who work only eight hours per day, nor do I know any teachers who only work their contract days. In fact, most teachers I know work (M-F) 10-12 hours/day at the school itself, then an additional 2-4 hours/day at home. On average, teachers I know work approximately 13 hours/day Monday-Friday, and an additional 5-10 hours each weekend. They also work at least half of their holidays throughout the school year.
