I note a tinge of arrogance in that offer of prayer. How do you know believers will be praying for atheists?
No arrogance, believers are concerned about everyone.
That's quite a broad statement. No way you could know this.
There's a greater chance I know this to be true than you since I am a believer.
All you know as a believer is what you do, not what all believers do. All believers are not alike. Also, remember, many atheists were once believers, so they tend to know a lot more about believers than believers know about atheists.
You got off that train. And you were probably standing on that train, ready to jump off at the next stop. Religious people attend places of worship. We go to bible study. We meet at church socials and fundraisers. We surround ourselves with believers. We participate in group prayer. Sorry, you lose. Believers do pray for even the most wretched folks. You would not understand why.
SOME believers do the things you mention-- and not very many at that.
Anyone who considers themselves fairly devout does that, because we believe in the power of prayer and that we are all interconnected.
