I'd just be happy if the area boomers would get the F out of Whole Foods and stop ramming my cart / leaving their cart in the center of the aisle blocking 78 other people while they ponder: Icelandic butter? or Plugo? hmmm
This, folks, is what day care does to a kid. They grow up and don't see the value in anyone as they age. Me, a boomer, will take care of my parents when necessary, until the day they die, just as we did for my mother-in-law and will-do for my father-in-law. Just as they did for me, my sister, and my brother. Because that is what good people do. Carry on!
Wait, what? A baby boomer being smug and self-congratulatory? Get out of here! Don't believe it!
Damn straight. It's called pride. You'd have to actually do something besides blame others to know what it feels like though. Were you actually raised by a loving parent instead of cast into group care at an age when bonding was critical, you might have learned how to selflessly give. Unfortunately, our Veterans are learning too, what happens when the man ultimately in charge of their care is abandoned and passed around as a child. He too, doesn't learn how to bond, only to blame. And to cook the books so his numbers 'add up'.
Who cast us as toddlers into group care in the 70s? Who gave us as preteens our own set of house keys in the 80s? Whose divorce rates skyrocketed during these decades, furthering the need for all-day childcare and the epidemic of latchkey kids? Once the Boomers quit puffing the magic dragon 24/7, their lifestyle became one of consumption, and their kids were handed over to strangers or left to fend for themselves. I live in a grey area-- warm climate and big Boomer population. Their media is always harping on about identity theft. Because for Boomers, that is the biggest scare of modern life-- protecting what's theirs. Sick and selfish.
