I was thinking this too.  I think he may have just strolled home afterward and no one paid him any mind. Why would they? it's not like the police had the description of him the moment after it happened and he easily could have blended in to the neighborhood.

I was listening to the scanner right after the call came in..they had a description of clothing and stopped a few people wearing similar clothing.

Also -- the Lodato's neighbors may not recognize the suspect if he lives several blocks away, but the people who live around him likely will. I know what all my neighbors look like.[/quote]
