Well, I was hoping for slightly better numbers, but as expected I'll be watching waitlists all summer and fall, looks like. But we matched with John Lewis which we're excited about! For K: 1 Ross Elementary School Waitlisted - #24 2 Garrison Elementary School Waitlisted - #10 3 Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS Waitlisted - #17 4 E.L. Haynes PCS - Elementary School Waitlisted - #6 5 John Lewis Elementary School Match (enrollment pending) 6 Lee Montessori PCS - Brookland Sibling Offered Waitlisted - #1 For 1st Grade: 1 Ross Elementary School Waitlisted - #45 2 Garrison Elementary School Waitlisted - #20 3 Inspired Teaching Demonstration PCS Waitlisted - #35 4 E.L. Haynes PCS - Elementary School Waitlisted - #8 5 John Lewis Elementary School Sibling Offered Waitlisted - #1 6 Lee Montessori PCS - Brookland Match (enrollment pending) We put Lee down without much thought and will be turning down that offer - but is it just me or is it crazy that we got an offer for 1st from them with what must be a pretty crappy lottery number? They must be really falling in popularity.
Folks with "really crappy lottery numbers" get waitlist numbers in the hundreds. Looks like you got a fairly decent lottery number, all things considered.
PP here. No, not for 1st grade at these schools. Here's the number my rising 1st grader got vs the length of the waitlist last year for 1st at each school: Ross - 45/65 Garrison - 20/22 ITDS - 35/48 EL Haynes - 8/21 John Lewis - Not relevant, as that #1 is clearly b/c of sibling preference We'll have to wait until the Tableau dash is updated for this year to say for sure - maybe Garrison was a little more popular this year, maybe Haynes was a little less popular, but overall, I'd guess his lottery number was in the bottom 30%. That's pretty crappy.
"The length of the waitlist last year"? Or the number of admits off the waitlist last year? (Obviously the waitlist length tells you nothing about your chances of getting an offer...the number of admits off the waitlist doesn't tell you much more - but in theory it's a vaguely more useful metric)
PP here - these numbers are the length of the waitlist last year. Agree, that tells you nothing about his chances of getting an offer, but this particular post was in response to someone who said they thought his lottery number was actually decent. I'm using these numbers simply to show that his number wasn't decent - it was likely in the bottom 30%. I mean, you can't have waitlist numbers "in the hundreds" when all the waitlists in question, historically, are 65 people or smaller. He won't get any offers via his lottery number, except maybe EL Haynes. He'll be riding sibling preference for sure - his little sister's number IS decent, though not amazing, so those are the numbers we're focused on!
