Hey I have no skin in this game and it doesn’t matter to me whether or not she likes motherhood or regrets it.
Saying I feel sorry for her kids having to hear her mom say that if she had a do-over, she would choose not to have them isn’t “attacking” her. It’s empathizing with the potential embarrassment and harm felt by the children.
No one wants to hear that their own mom would choose to be childless rather than choose to bring them into the world.
To mom, it may be an hypothetical. But it’s remarkable to me you cannot fathom how, to the child, this wishful hypothetical is mom speaking aloud her preference that they would not exist in her do-over world.[/quote]
