No one can answer this with any degree of certainty.  But I took it to mean, he was having diarrhea/ cramping/ bloating, or possibly even blood in the stool although I can't think most people would automatically jump to that being from coffee. [/quote]

No, I get it from the fact that it's a well known , heavily documented sign of colon cancer and he said he was having bowel troubles and initially blamed coffee or creamer for them.  The part about the creamer is what made me think maybe he saw blood- and assumed he was developing a milk allergy.  But not everyone has a high degree of medical literacy.  Everyone knows coffee can cause GI symtpoms and bowel changes.  So when faced with GI symptoms and bowel changes, if that person has recently been drinking more coffee, it is not that surprising for them to think "i wonder if it is all the extra coffee".  Chill.
