Just because someone has a nicer or larger home than you do, you don't have to assume that their energy costs are sky-high (after all, new construction materials are usually much more efficient than those in older homes), nor do you have to think that the don't use all their rooms. As someone who lived in a walkable, small house for a number of year and now lives in a larger suburban home, I can tell you that we have enjoyed both (each has their charms and we've been happy in each). The fact that you have concocted such dramatic, negative scenarios about people in these larger homes (purported expectations of senator neighbors, your use of neighborhood in quotes, etc.) suggests that you aren't so happy with your own situation.   Perhaps the new year will bring your more happiness with yourself and your life choices.[/quote]
