Model 1 (cohorted advanced class) is replacement for ELC. It is a new curriculum — that is the difference.

No one is going to be able to answer whether it is just as good unless they have seen the new curriculum. CKLA is strong so in theory a cohorted class that moves at a faster pace and incorporates enrichment throughout is strong — but the specifics of what is in the curriculum, and how it is implemented, matter. For many of us the curriculum itself isn’t the issue. I liked CKLA this year. The problem is the cohorting or lack thereof. [/quote]

That’s extreme and not what the person said or meant. Differentiation is challenging for teachers with such varying skills. Cohorted groups can make it more manageable for students get the intervention/enrichment they need. [/quote]
