"Alec and Hilaria Baldwin mistakenly believed they could use a reality television show to rehabilitate their public image, which has been marred by repeated controversy. How spectacularly wrong they were." https://collider.com/the-baldwins-alec-hilaria-baldwin-children/
IMO this is the real reason for the show. It wasn't that they wanted to make a ton of $ from the reality show- they thought the show would make them become more sympathetic and therefore turn into more projects (acting, promotional, etc). I've watched a few episodes. Straight up, these people are not relatable. At all. Hilaria acts like a teen mom and looks like she's fueled by Adderall and vapes. Alec seems like he is masking a deep depression. The kids just make me feel bad and uncomfortable because of how they are being raised. It's hard to watch on many levels, and I couldn't keep going with it. It was also hard to watch the self pity over the shooting. No, its not Alec's fault.
But he could have checked the chamber
and someone would still have their mom, their daughter, their wife. They completely lack empathy and self awareness about how this must look to the family of the dead cinematographer.
If I were an actor and had to handle a gun, I would take some sort of gun safety course, learn how to shoot, and learn how to check a gun for bullets. And every single time I was handed a gun on a set, I'd open it and look to make sure there were no bullets. I would not trust someone else to do that for me, because a mistake can kill, as we saw. I DO think Alec bears responsibility for this, as does the person who was supposed to hand him an unloaded gun. Alec is purportedly a sane, responsible adult - so if he's holding a gun he should feel and be held responsible.
