One of the greatest parenting failures is the failure to teach a child how to change their mind in the face of new information, how to be humble and admit when you don't have all the answers and try to learn from those who have better expertise, how to admit mistakes and correct them and keep trying, how to respond when you have been lied to or duped.

But where the adults in your life may have failed you, you are still capable as an adult of learning these very important life skills, skills that make you far more intelligent and much happier than those who never learn them. The stress and frustration of feeling compelled to double down on your own errors in a fruitless battle to 'win' at all costs leads to a very dark place. Much of the country is in that very dark place.[/quote]
