ok - this is now making sense. I literally did not realize that they think it's a mental illness. 
although - EVEN IF your position is that it's a 'mental illness' (that oddly lots of kids just 'have' even those from republican families), then what's the solution? Ignore and hope it goes away? do you have some kind of magic anti trans pill you're pushing?

Have you ever heard of social contagion? That being trans is cool and accepted now, and a way for vulnerable kids who are suffering to feel seen, lauded and accepted?

Even if that happened. Even if everyone on the planet made up a gender. So what? If it made them happy. 
I can’t imagine they would. But if they did - what’s the worst that could happen? 
To me, kids killing themselves bc they have a parent like you who refuses to see what’s in front of their eyes (if it’s the case they are trans) or makes them feel there is something deeply wrong with them or throws them out is a much much bigger and more evidence based concern than the weird one you cooked up.

This is the real problem maga has with transgender people. They think it’s contagious (unlike measles which is harmless) and that they can will away the possibility of having a “different” kid and all the judgment that they will get. They don’t see that acceptance is the way through the conundrum. [/quote]
