i guess i just find it so odd that anyone would think anyone would fake this. why if you are a man or a boy, would you want to dress and live as a woman or a girl unless you HAD to because to deny this about yourself was to open the door to significant depression, suicidal ideation and self harm. What possible benefit could it infer upon you? It is beyond hard. People discriminate against you at every step. They judge you. They jeer in the streets. Kids alienate you. You are self conscious every second you are out in public. You are told you are weird and gross and euw. WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THAT unless they had no choice? That's what liberals dont get about the republican argument.
It's a mental illness that thrives on narcissism and attention-seeking. You don't get it because you're (relatively) normal.
ok - this is now making sense. I literally did not realize that they think it's a mental illness. although - EVEN IF your position is that it's a 'mental illness' (that oddly lots of kids just 'have' even those from republican families), then what's the solution? Ignore and hope it goes away? do you have some kind of magic anti trans pill you're pushing? Also many many kids are trans and narcissism is not really possible in kids - which you might know if you had ever actually looked into the research behind all this which i'm sure you have not.
Are you seriously this clueless? Have you ever heard of social contagion? That being trans is cool and accepted now, and a way for vulnerable kids who are suffering to feel seen, lauded and accepted? No, you don't ignore it and hope it goes away. You call it out for what it is - a dangerous mind game that leads to permanent, horrific body alterations and lifelong pain and suffering. And you stop the positive promotion in schools, the media etc. under the guise of faux compasion.
Wow. THIS is the theory you’re going with? But ok - worst case scenario: everyone can just make up what gender they feel like they are. So what? What’s the worst that can happen? What’s your biggest fear? And do you really think we all will? Why? Would you? I wouldn’t.
Sweetheart, if you want to "make up a gender" that involves wearing purple feathers and cackling like a duck, go right ahead. You can follow whatever crazy gender whim you desire, at any time you want. (You won't work for me, or be hired by my company, but that's another story.) What you will not do is influence my children and, as much as I can continue to work to prevent it, influence any children. You will not tell them or lead them to believe that any of this is normal, or right, or OK, or good, or the solution to their problems, or any other tactic you dream up. Adults - go for it. But you're not coming for the kids.
… because you think they’ll also want to be nonbinary forever? Because they heard someone else is? Firstly - it’s not contagious. Secondly - I am not your sweetie. So you can step down there. Even if that happened. Even if everyone on the planet made up a gender. So what? If it made them happy. I can’t imagine they would. But if they did - what’s the worst that could happen? To me, kids killing themselves bc they have a parent like you who refuses to see what’s in front of their eyes (if it’s the case they are trans) or makes them feel there is something deeply wrong with them or throws them out is a much much bigger and more evidence based concern than the weird one you cooked up.
This is the real problem maga has with transgender people. They think it’s contagious (unlike measles which is harmless) and that they can will away the possibility of having a “different” kid and all the judgment that they will get. They don’t see that acceptance is the way through the conundrum.
