I’m someone you’d probably consider on the opposite side of you. I believe in sex-based rights. I’m also someone with data training who dug into the studies cited by WPATH to support child transition years ago, and realized just how flimsy they were. And I see and despise the deep misogyny of a lot of trans rights activists. So, I’m positive you’d consider me on the opposite side of you.

I wanted to tell you this: I know you won’t believe this, but I want your child to thrive. I want evidence-based care for kids like your child. I want rigorous studies that chart out lifetime care paths, not the ideologically-driven and extraordinarily weak studies that exist now. I do not support the inflammatory language of Trump’s EOs or most aspects of them. I think Nancy Mace’s behavior is unacceptable. I think people like Matt Walsh are vile, morally bankrupt grifters. I never use the t-slur. I think there has to be a way to balance sex-based rights and trans rights, we just haven’t figured it out yet as a society.

I’m sorry for what you and your child are going through right now. It’s not right, and if Democrats and Republicans both hadn’t been cynically fundraising for years on the backs of kids like yours, if hospitals and medical systems hadn’t seen your kid as endless money printing machines, if liberals hadn’t inexplicably decided that for this one issue, even the slightest questioning of the orthodoxy was impermissible and an offense worthy of excommunication, you and your child would not be in this awful situation. And it is awful: we shouldn’t be here. This has been a systemic failure. And I am sorry for the heartbreak you are feeling. You and your kid deserve better.

There will be no studies. Good studies, bad studies, mediocre studies. None. Trump banned transgender and a slew of other words from federal grants had them scrubbed from federal databases.
