This is such a dark post and a tired argument. Who do you think you are to even make that argument? Which of the 8B would you give up to enjoy a more pristine planet? There are 2 more billion people currently on the planet than you think - and starvation has decreased. The Earth was fine when there were 6B people and is fine now. Humans are learning to manage resources. Humans are good and humanity is good.  If the decision came to saving your life or saving a tree, I would choose you each time.
