Anyone think that GA will expand to invite any MLS club's girls teams? as someone somewhat new to all of this, the issues people are talking about is that on the boys side MLS Next is the top league and ECNL is 2nd tier, and on the girls side ECNL is top and GA is 2nd tier (ok, maybe 1.5) and the leagues do not like having clubs having boys teams in MLS Next and girls teams in ECNL?
Not quite how I'd describe it. In different leagues there are top performers. The top performers would be good in any league. The big difference between GA and ECNL girls right now is that there's more top performer clubs in ECNL. But this doesn't mean that the top clubs in GA aren't really good as well. This is why scouts attend both leagues events. MLSN + ECNL boys is different because MLSN has fully funded Acadamies and contracts. This doesn't exist for girls. In MLSN Acadamies are like a vacuum that sucks up the best players from any league but primarily MLSN. Because the Acadamies are closely tied to professional MLS clubs it's hard for ECNL to compete. And if an ECNL team does really well MLSN acadamies will just try to recruit their top players.
