I haven’t heard anything about this for awhile so perhaps the Project decided not to act on this. Likely due to the widespread opposition….?? Am only speculating here.
The Innocence Project generally takes on only cases involving BIPOC accused persons.
That isn't true, at least not in the way you're presenting it. The reason that more than half (58%) of the 240 exonerations handled by the Innocence Project are black is because there is persistent racial disparity in the criminal justice system, and black people are more likely to be wrongfully convicted - 19 times more likely in the case of drug convictions, for instance. More on our racist injustice system: https://innocenceproject.org/nre-national-registry-exonerations-report-2022-racism-criminal-system/ The registry of exonerations, which includes faces of every color: https://www.law.umich.edu/special/exoneration/Pages/about.aspx
Reading what you wrote again, it is absolutely a false assertion - you're contending that the Innocence Project only takes BIPOC cases. Totally false assertion. ~ criminal law attorney since 1999
