I did the same. I thought that defending an educator who has been nothing but supportive to my daughters for years was the right thing to do but I see how this just gives more fuel to his critics. If my girls weren’t already in high school I’d be looking for a new school, I’ve learned a lot about my fellow SR parents and am disgusted.[/quote]

I don’t understand, if you don’t believe in Catholic values, why did you send your daughters to a Catholic school all these years? SR is as a foundation, a Catholic school. If you support a teacher who had been trying to subvert Catholic values at a Catholic school, then I would say, you, like him, shouldn’t be at a Catholic school. [/quote]

I don’t believe he’s been subverting Catholic values, I think he said one stupid thing that has been taken out of context. I am a Catholic who has read all of the papal Enciclicals around sexuality and he is no more out of line with catholic doctrine than any teacher who has used artificial birth control. Is anyone going after them? My family has been in Catholic schools for generations, admittedly my grandparents generation were much more devout with daily mass as part of their practice. It’s really odd to see all of these families come to my Catholic school, many of whom aren’t Catholic just MAGA conservatives, and suddenly they’re the Catholic police.[/quote]

The Catholic Church has not embraced the doctrines of LGBTQ, so he is working against the Catholic Church. If he doesn’t agree with or respect Catholic teachings, he shouldn’t be teaching at a Catholic school. [/quote]

The school will not overstep familial boundaries in each family’s personal values. Teachers who hide information about children from their parents are not being partners in the education of their children. This goes against the school’s contract with parents.[/quote]
