I do think more people are aware of how celebrities use PR during divorce and child custody cases to smear their ex or plead their case, than used to. I definitely see this in myself. Ten years ago I would have seen those photos of Joe with his kids and taken them at face value even if I didn't necessarily buy to blind items bout Turner being a "party girl"in the press... and taking them at face value would probably have subconsciously make me think "well maybe it's true he's the family man and she's just out drinking."

But now I definitely understand the PR machine better and I know (like *know*, there is no doubt in my mind) that those photos were 100% staged, that Joe likely met with his PR team and this was deemed a useful tactic to control the media narrative, and they almost certainly either chose a location where they knew paps would be, or tipped them off themselves, and also it's likely his PR team helped place the story in media outlets (either by offering a tip or something else). There is zero likelihood that Joe Jonas just decided randomly he wanted to take his daughters out for breakfast and oops, who would have thought, there are paparazzi here, oh well, I'm just gonna act real natural and high five my three year old in full view of the cameras which is totally what I would be doing anyway even if I hadn't filed for divorce three days ago.
