My parents and the entire neighborhood connected hoses and brought water and tried to go down the basement to save her. My dad almost fell to the basement on the crumbling stairs. My mom was a nurse and helped care for her in the hospital.before she died, in the hospital she said she changed her mind and wanted to live. She had seemed so lovely and nice and full of life before that – it’ set an early impression on me that people may not be as happy as they seem, and to try to be really kind to everyone, even on a passing daily basis.
