This thread contains some of the most random and irrational restrictions on friendship that I could have ever imagined. I thought living here most of my life that folks were difficult to get to know--DC has always been a very hard place to make friends. If this thread is any indication, then it is no wonder. Many of you have never left HS. The mere idea that you could never be friends with such broadly defined parameters is just ridiculous. That goes for EVERYONE on this thread.
I'm the OP and I have given my parameters some thought in response to your comment. I really CANNOT be friends with people who don't hire babysitters. I simply cannot. I have tried. Not only do I need some adult time every so often, I can't stand the Mommy Martyrdom of these people who have never had a freakin babysitter. Geesh. I have a close friend (from college) who has never hired a babysitter, and I tell her all the time that I want to punch her in the face when she talks about it. The drinking....I do have friends that don't drink. I was over-generalizing on that one. I make exceptions. But mostly, I like drinking buddies. And, I responded to this one up a few pages but, I think people who don't complain about their husbands are either 1) not the sharing type, which is totally fine for them, but I am the sharing type, so we are not a good match; or (2) liars - and no one wants to be friends with liars. So, I will take the back the drinking one. But not the others. :)
But you still come off as really smug and self-important, so yeah I think I would have to be drunk to be around you. "And hey, look at the time, we told the babysitter we'd be back by 8:30!"
