So if FCPS got rid of AAP center schools, the same number of students would still need a bus ride. The same number of elementary students, the same number of middle school students, and the same number of high school students. The solution to the bus problem is to buy a lot more buses and hire a lot more drivers. Not hating on 8 year olds.
This makes zero sense. If FCPS got rid of AAP centers, then the kids who were previously given their own separate buses to the center would simply be absorbed onto the regular (base school) runs. There would finally be *enough* buses.
Your math doesn't work. But why worry about that when you can hate on 3rd graders?
Oh, the irony. The math does indeed work. Eliminate centers - eliminate special bus runs. You simply don't like that idea.
There are two bus runs for elementary schools because there are 141 elementary schools, not because of center schools. If every student went to their base school, they'd still have to get there.
I’ll help you with the math since you’re struggling. Many AAP buses really do only transport 10-20 kids to the center. These kids could easily be absorbed into the bus routes picking up for their zoned schools that have a LLIV. Instead, an entire bus and driver have to waste an hour driving 10 kids to school. Each center most likely has 3-6 buses like this. It’s a waste.
It may be a waste, but it is not clear that it is enough of a waste to solve the busing problem if this waste were eliminated. You need to show that this handful of bus runs is enough to solve the busing issues.
