Happy our #7 choice, Inspired, somehow worked. We live close to Inspired in Bloomingdale, but thought there wasn't any in-boundary preference.
Jumped from #11 to #4 at Yu Ying yesterday. Now we really have our hopes up. Would be heartbreaking if we don't make it now.
I cannot imagine a scenario where you don't get in. It's only May and just past the enrollment deadline. Lists typically move a bunch during the summer and early fall, and this year I think will be more movement than usual.
Out of curiosity, what would cause her child to get off the waitlist now? People moving away, You Ying deciding to enlarge the class, etc? Presumably she upped to #4 based on people enrolling their kids- what generally cause more movement at this point? (Lottery newbie obviously)
People for whom YY is not their first choice get off the WL at their higher-ranked school, enroll at the higher-ranked school, and open up a spot at YY. Sometimes those people take their siblings with them and open up even more spots.
Yeah, there are a variety of reasons. Current students get off the waitlist elsewhere or do not re-enroll because they move away, and their incoming PK3 sibling moves with them. People on the waitlist offered a spot and decline. People removing themselves from the waitlist.
