Do you think it is so important that the “onus” be placed on ICE, even if doing so will result in more crimes committed against MoCo residents
I think what we're talking about is an executive order not a friggin decree from god almighty. I think if the executive order turns out to be some shit and only causes more problems it can be altered or adjusted or amended or altogether abandoned. I think fear and prejudice has got some people so worked up they have lost all sense of proportion along with all sense of humanity and community and compassion for others. But you don't give a shit what I think anyway so I don't know why you even asking.
As predicted, no answer. It’s a simple question—is increased crime on MoCo residents an acceptable cost of refusal to cooperate with ICE, or isn’t it? Easy for me to answer—I say no. What say you?
I say increased crime is not an inevitable outcome of this executive order as you insist. I say decreased crime could be a possibility outcome because the immigrant community of Montgomery County represents more than 30% of the county’s population and they are victims of crime themselves but often afraid to alert police for fear of repercussions due to harsh immigration policies thus giving criminals a green light to commit more robberies and rapes, but with this executive order which prevents authorities from asking residents about their immigration status they may be more inclined to cooperate when it comes to local crimes and thus locking more people up and preventing more crimes. I say this executive order may indeed frustrate the federal government in their efforts but it may very well free the county authorities up to better do their job. I say you can try all you want trying to get your "Gotcha" moment on me because I have the audacity to have a different opinion but it doesn't change the fact that you're operating purely on pessimistic presumption which is not fact so...yeah...there's no "Gotcha" moment unless you've got a crystal ball and can see into the future. Sorry.
