I predict that in 5 years, Lori Laughlin will be even more famous and landing bigger television roles (not just Lifetime). I also predict that her daughter will have a lucrative makeup brand. Mark my words! I'm not saying I want this to happen--I find the whole situation to be deeply disturbing--but notoriety + wealth is a pretty winning combination in the United States. Exhibit A: Kim Kardashian's sex tape.
I find these predictions laughable. Someone said when the store broke Lori would be signing a deal for a reality show within a week. The only deal she's signing is the one for a court-ordered prison stint. And for those who bring up Kim or Paris, again what they didn't wasn't ILLEGAL. Which is why Lori was already kicked of the Hallmark Channel and Netflix.
Martha Stewart went to jail and she's richer than ever. Mel Gibson was arrested for a DUI and made anti-semitic remarks on camera. He was a pariah for like 2 years before he bought his way back into Hollywood. Lori Laughlin is enjoying more press than she's ever had. It will take time for the dust to settle, but when it does, she'll have a bigger spotlight. Again, I think it's pretty grotesque--but we are all suckers for this kind of drama.
For every Martha there’s a Teresa Guidice or Abby from Dance Moms. Both are suffering. Martha owns her own company, production studios and is a CEO. Big difference.
Yes, money is the difference! The reality "stars" have very little capital on which to build and often go broke paying lawyer's fees. Lori Laughlin is worth like 80 million dollars. Money begets more money. Y'all can disagree with me now, but wait 5 years! The daughter will be a household name.
Lori isn’t worth $80 million, her husband is. If he wants to spend it on his daughters YouTube hobby more power to them but they aren’t the type of family which does well on reality TV. Not trashy enough for E and not wholesome enough for TLC. No one watches Laguna Beach rich and snobby celebrity shows anymore - they have to be willing to be whores or drug addicts or born-again Christians.
They are married and they were both indicted. They are not at risk of going broke, and don't even need to bother with the reality show route. I don't think you understand the power of YouTube to younger generations. Kylie got her foot into the cosmetic industry by sharing her makeup tips on Snapchat. She had visibility on Snapchat because she's part of a wealthy and famous family. A lot of privilege and a little bit of notoriety go a long way in this country. You don't have to like it, but it's happening.
