I live in NYC. I’ve seen Tina Fey around the upper west side twice with her kid. She looks exactly the way you would imagine the avg DCUM mom looks! Ellie Kemper in the grocery store, and while she is beautiful, she looks exactly her age. The basics are there to make it work on camera with makeup etc: good bone structure, good hair and teeth. An Olsen twin once in a Duane Reade. She was with an entourage so it was immediately obvious. All I remember is that she was tiny. Alan Alda on the street once, I just heard his voice and knew. I love him and he just looks like a regular guy. I may have crossed paths with other celebrities, but there’s a whole category of people here about whom it’s impossible to tell if they’re famous or just really wealthy.
I'm also in NYC and also see celebrities here and there. No underwhelming but surprising: Seeing Jon Stewart and his son (I'm assuming it was his son -- at the time the kid was maybe 10) in the Kmart at Astor Place in Manhattan. And another time seeing him with his wife (again, assuming it was his wife) at a gym on 14th Street in Manhattan -- he was hanging out with her while she worked out on a pilates reformer. Seemed like a nice, down to earth guy in both instances.
