^^^ I think people were really good on focusing their comments on the behavior of Josh Lopez, the remarks of the Farrakhan scumball, and Trayon's response (or lack thereof) to the vile speech that took place at a rally in his name. But as the OP of this thread, I hereby pronounce the following as the truth: Some portion of Ward 8 residents are no doubt antisemitic, and the other portion no doubt are not. End of story. ###
Some white people are racist, some aren’t. End of story?
No, but I'm responding to posters above who are we shouldn't think that people in Ward 8 are antisemitic because of the actions of their leader (who has refused to condemn disgusting antisemitic remarks, along with other actions.) I take a realistic view that some people in Ward 8 do harbor antisemitic attitudes, and some do not. That's all. We just shouldn't go so overboard and say that the people in Ward 8 are all neutral to Jews. That's the "head in the sand" approach to DC antisemitism.....denying it exists, except for one or two isolated cases.
What's with the "their leader" thing? He's a friggin councilmember not a damn tribal chief. There are over 70 thousand people in Ward 8...you know how many votes Trayon got in 2016? A little over 27 thousand which is less than half. Couple that with the fact that he barely won the primary over incumbent LaRuby May (51% to 42%) and taking into account the fact that he ran unopposed in the general election thus putting people who want to exercise their vote in the prohibitive predicament of voting for him or writing in Big Bird (which I wouldn't be surprised if some did) and it doesn't exactly look to me like he fits the description of "their leader" Looks to me like he's just the guy about 1/3 of the few folks in Ward 8 who who bothered to vote in 2016 only did so because there was no alternative.
Regardless, he is their elected representative, thus, their leader.
Well by that logic since we elected the lying egotistical sexist hypocritical bigot who currently occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as our country's leader I guess that means EVERYBODY has their head in the sand - not just the folks in Ward 8.
