I really don't understand how any person is defending the actions of the Bullis administration in its bizarre recruiting policies for HS football and HS basketball. Bullis is pretty average most sports, other than the two mentioned above. My son graduated from an IAC school not to long ago and I have a daughter at a local private who competes against Bullis. I have heard from several parents with kids there, some who have even pulled their kids, that the school might as well have a 2nd building for the recruited athletes who show up on a moment's notice. Clearly the administration doesn't care too much about a kid who has been there since lower school or middle school, whose parents believe in the school, only to lose his or her starting spot when a "recruit" comes in for their junior or even senior season. This is not a good message to send to those that have been roaming the halls for quite some time and the parents who have most likely dished a lot of tuition over the years.
On the other hand, I have a DS at a school that way overvalues their "lifers." This confounds me, given that they increase their class size so much in middle and high school, then do little to make the new students feel they are as valued as those who have been their longer--as if they are not as important just because of choices their parents made 10 years ago. I realize this doesn't address the recruiting issue, but I don't understand why somebody who is a strong player than your son shouldn't have a fair chance just because he hasn't been at the school as long.
