The US doesn’t have the munitions and air defense to fight a modern war. We used up so much of our capabilities in this very peripheral war of choice. Now we can’t do anything for at least a couple of years as we need to replenish. And our allies won’t be getting anything they paid for in the meantime. Which means they will go elsewhere for their defense needs. We really crippled ourselves with this war. Which begs the question what the hell are we spending more than a trillion a year on? War has changed. But Trump and Hegseth seem stuck in the 90s and never adapted to new realities. And now Iran gets to set the terms because we don’t have the capabilities to fight a modern war.
We had the munitions but the plan was for a 60 day war. The US is like a bodybuilder trying to run a marathon. If China, N Korea, Iran and Russia had coordinated we would be screwed. We really have to ask about military planning and seeing future threats. Who was responsible for that? Had they ever heard of Russia - Ukraine war? Russia lost over 12,000 tanks and their aircraft can no enter Ukraine airspace. These are the same tanks and aircraft US planers were so worried about. US weapons system are too expensive and can not function in a war time environment. The weapon systems, tanks, aircraft, ships, etc need too much expensive maintenance, can not be replaced in a timely manner(5-7 year for a ship) and munitions replacement rates are like 10-100 a month. Next time we go to war we will not have bases in Europe.
Yep. This. Dems should be calling for hearings on this issue. Why do we spend so much money on our military and foreign wars? What have we gotten in return. Would that money have been better spent on healthcare? Preschool? 🤔 Right now all I see since Bush II’s presidency are wasted billions. Where is the outrage?
