At least one of the All-Academics (Matay/Langley) is a pole.  As for the others, my guess is that from less prestigious lacrosse territories such as NoVA publics, and the players are chosen based mostly on their numbers, which tend to be offensive players.  I bet there are plenty of poles from Chaminade, St. Anthony's, McDonough, Gilman, etc.[/quote]The All Academics are chosen by faculty members.  And the All Americans are voted on by coaches after those same coaches nominate All American candidates.[/quote]
