Even if that was true (that CB had made a rendezvous with JR), if they had an open relationship (or even if they didn't), BB still could have found out about CB and JR meeting up and used that situation to his advantage.

He could have posed as CB in discussions with JR and told JR things unbeknownst to CB.

Or that he DID. He set him up. JR should serve as a cautionary tale. I had a former co-worker in the scene and he only played in public spaces for this reason. Even in a hotel, things can go very sideways. Even if you are big and martial arts trained you may cross paths with a complete psycho.

I think of the photos his friend shared of that goofy group pretend LARPing. BB is a whole different type of creature than that. They are out there. Be wary. The typical safety precautions were no match for his scheming. [/quote]
