DCI could improve things a lot by having kids test into the IB program between middle and high school but unfortunately the parents are too equity pilled at this point.
DCI motto is literally IB for all. This comment seems pretty out of touch.
Yes, this is a dumb motto and maybe they should change it and the mission (the Arlington model does seem good)
No it’s not. It is EXACTLY what they want. There is always lots of naysayers and resistance to change and the status quo. Exhibit A all the insecure Walls families posting on here who have no kids at the school. IB curriculum and courses should be available for all and for all to enrich from it. That is what DCI does. Then you can choose which track out of the 4 or 5 that is offered as you move up the grades. In addition, the school offers different levels of courses to meet all kids needs. It’s a great concept and frankly quite revolutionary. The school is breaking the glass window of elitism. And with the current stats of such a new school with so many kids getting college credits and IB scores, the school is definitely on an upward trajectory.
If the kids were getting into top international schools I’d agree. They’re not, they’re getting into second tier sub Durham schools in the UK, and not anything recognizable in France or Holland. The set of US schools is ok. If you’re happy with BC and BU… that’s great.
Please list any school that just graduated 5 or 6 classes where kids are getting into top international schools. That is why I said upward trajectory. Let’s circle back in another 5 years and see. The kids are getting low 30’s which is really good for a new IB school, especially one that does not select
