Yeah, at May Magic today, NCAP Tyson’s was on their second LC meet already.
I think most sites had already done a LC meet before this weekend. There have been the OCCS meets, the Machine meet, Fish Derby, and the PAC meets at Fairland.
Wow. Didn’t know that. This weekend was NCAP Burke swimmers’ first foray into a LC pool for the season, and we only have one more LC meet before champs this summer.
Really? We only do three LC meets on average. The top swimmers generally do more. They will do Super Sectionals, NCSA Summer Champs, and/or Futures. But most swimmers will only do a few LC meets.
DP from NCAP Burke — yes, the 13 and over Silver 1 and Gold 1 swimmers can have more LC meets, but the 12U swimmers are only having two LC meets this season, and this past weekend was the first of the two. No LC practice until school is out. 12U Kids who make PV LC age group champs will go to them, and kids who make Zones can go (but most don’t because we just want a break after so much summer league swimming).
It’s nuts how different the sites are. NCAP Tyson’s (is it “Nova” now?) 12Us are at their fourth LC meet (this one is in Richmond!), with three weekends in a row.
What Richmond meet were 12Us at?
It was the one put on by NOVA, Spring Splash. We are at a different NCAP site and this meet was not advertised to our swimmers, but I saw it on the SE Motion app. I forget what category it was under, maybe travel meets.
I was wrong, NCAP-Nova 12Us were not at the NOVA of VA meet. They were at the Machine meet this past weekend, the May Magic Meet last weekend, and the Machine meet at the end of April. So NCAP-Nova (Tysons/Marymount), NCAP-Loudoun (Claude Moore/Ashburn/Dulles South), and NCAP-Prep 12Us have already swim in three LC meets + will have 2 more LC meets before PV Champs, as compared with NCAP-Burke, which only swims 2 LC meets total before Champs. And NCAP-West will attend 2-3 LC meets before Champs. It’s curious that NCAP sites are not more standardized. Prep and maybe AU were at the NOVA of VA meet this past weekend.
The Maryland NCAP sites were at the NOVA meet in Richmond this weekend.
Burke is definitely the outlier with the number of meets available for the 12Us. It looks like most sites offer at least 4 meets before champs. The Maryland NoVA, and Loudoun sites probably have the most. NCAP West does some meets that others don’t because of where they are located, in addition to May Magic last weekend their 12Us have a meet in Stafford, an outdoor meet in Winchester, and then one of the LC Opens.
