I'm in close-in Silver Spring, but would drive to DC, Rockville(ish), or NoVa for a good practice. Two dogs (one medium, one large), two indoor-only cats. Not. Friendship. If you had a great experience there, good for you. My answer is still no. Thanks. I'm currently paying corporate-owned prices, and would love to pay less for better quality. If you love your vet practice, please let me know.
Why do I need to "love" a vet, or any other provider? I just need a competent professional. I'm not going to wine them, dine them and sleep with them.
Not the OP, but if you go to Friendship Hospital you will be fleeced for whatever procedure they conduct, and they will recommend the highest cost procedures possible. (They were bought by private equity a few years ago, and we had a terrible experience there that damaged us financially.)
I’ve been going to friendship for emergencies and specialty care for decades. They’ve always offered extensive/expensive options. That’s what they’re for. But I never felt pressured to spend more or do more - it’s their job to present options. They have the stuff. You don’t go to the hospital for a cold. If you do, it’s going to cost a lot. Did I spend 3x on an exam and euthanasia at Friendship vs somewhere else? Yes. It was 4am on a Sunday and I’m very grateful they were there. Did I spend thousands there on oncology with another dog? Yes, but I certainly didn’t have to and I was given options and counsel all along the way.
