I think there are 2 schools of thought.

1.) [b]Don't tell the coach at all/ until the season is over[/b][u].  --&gt;This is done if you think the coach might bench your kid or remove them from the starting line up.  Even if the coach asks why you didn't come to tryouts or accept the team offer, just delay and cite finances.

2.)  [b]Just be honest and upfront[/b][/u].  We already decided to leave for these reasons.  --&gt; This is done if you generally trust the club/ coach and they will finish the spring season by playing your kid the same way.  You won't burn any bridges this way and the coach can plan for next year and offer another spot to another player.

I was very honest with my coach as I trusted her and let her know when she asked after the 1st ID session.  It lead to some healthy discussions. And now the coach can plan for next year and my kid does not have to lie to her teammates.
