It's only “strategic” from the school's perspective.[/quote] OK, this makes at least some perverted sense, in that Johns Hopkins is an easier admit in ED (the downside being that you would actually have to go there; it really isn’t a top 10 school, US News aside). But if it is a “no” from JHU, that is all the more reason to go down from Bowdoin if there is a strong ED2 alternative. Bowdoin is a tougher admit ED2 than ED1 (because of applicants like you, and Bowdoin is most like Amherst and Williams, which have only ED1, so you will get some of their rejects as well, not to mention the Ivies).[/quote]
