Stupid? Perhaps. Of course people smart enough to ask what the marriage was like are also smart enough to wonder what was in it for spouse who decided to stay married to “a real a.s.shole” — even if they’re too polite to actually ask.

Do smart people wonder though? I don't think anyone over the age of 10 is unaware of how hard divorce is. Everyone, including you, knows full well how many social and financial mechanisms exist to punish women with children, especially, for leaving the "institution" of marriage. Why pretend to be confused about this? [/quote]
