By now, the traitors who betrayed the people must be having major buyer’s remorse. Why can’t we just call another vote in the senate and re-vote? The shutdown isn’t even over yet.
No, they are not having buyer's remorse. They knew the reaction. It's why they had other Senators vote yes instead of them.
+1 It's pretty obvious the Democrat leadership decided they needed to end the shutdown while looking like they opposed the deal. So they had the least vulnerable senators vote for the deal and are now pretending to be mad at them. It's all a big show.
But the Democratic leadership kept pushing the narrative: “we cannot end the shutdown because republicans control both houses and the White House; we are powerless and the republicans are 100% to blame!” - was that a false narrative all along ?
Nope. The Democratic leadership did not push that narrative. The only “false narrative “ here PP is your claim. I’m fine with being corrected though, if you can support your initial comment. The Democrats have claimed — correctly— that it’s all on the Republicans, who, of course, could have chosen to end the shutdown at any point. While the Democrats could have caved at any point, they “kept pushing the narrative “ that the Republican plan to make health insurance unaffordable for millions of Americans is unacceptable. I’d argue that the truly unacceptable stance is one that pits the need for food against the need for healthcare.
What's unacceptable is democrats were getting the Obamacare subsidies already in place prior to covid and they wanted the covid emergency subsidies also to continue to be stacked on top of those. Enough is enough. Covid is in the rearview mirror.
The fact that there are already subsidies and then there were additional subsidies for COVID and that the ACA is not affordable without these subsidies demonstrates that the ACA is not actually affordable. There MUST be change.
Agreed. But the change the GOP is calling for is “poor people die for lack of basic care while Bezos buys another private island and Trump covers every surface in marble.” The GOP healthcare playbook is literally empty.
