OP here. Perhaps it is better to switch to test optional rather than incomplete EA being rolled to RD. Kid has 1530, GPA 3.86/4.76. Physics. From NOVA private.
Just my opinion, no way would I go test optional with a 1530. Order the score report today. The worst that can happen is the app would get moved to RD for a late score report, but I don't think that would actually happen. Very few universities are that super strict about the deadline for an official score report; Michigan is the only one I can think of.
Kid decided that he will go TO, eventhough we have already order the test scores from college board to be sent. Kid does not want to risk not considered for EA. He is also applying for UMD music department, which strong encourages EA. Fingers crossed!!
Wise move -- those suggesting that it's no big deal to get moved to RD don't know U-MD process. Vast, vast majority admitted in EA, and it was made clear at our MCPS HS, where hundreds apply to U-MD each year, that even top stats students get rejected if they don't apply EA. Just in case you aren't already award re your music applicant: my DC also applied for both Music and another field, and the School of Music admission office made clear that if kid gets app in EA and SOM really likes them, they can push if needed for general acceptance to the university. So especially if your DC is connecting with professors there, at the audition or otherwise, you might want to share with the SOM admissions office the reason your DC went TO
