It's extremely obnoxious, narcissistic, and borderline unethical. Students who apply to these schools should treat them as ED schools, i.e. way the merits of each school, make whatever decision you're going to make, and accept the outcome, be it good or bad. All of these schools will meet whatever FA is needed. There is no reason to "deliberate" further.

Counseling depts want to get the best possible outcomes for the highest number of students. Having one kid admitted to 3 T5 schools prevents/undermines that. [/quote]
