I just want to note that I did the whole sulfate-free except for a clarifying shampoo once a week for a couple years and I thought it was fine but noticed I was going through the clarifying shampoo fast. Well then on a 3 week vacation where I could not be fussy about haircare I used regular old Pantene Daily moisture shampoo and conditioner and my har was so much more manageable and felt better and was really only a little drier than with the sulfate-free plus clarifying combo. Which I was able to fix easily with some leave in product which never builds up because I shampoo with a sulfate conditioner regularly? I don't know. I think a lot of us with textured hair were convinced that sulfates were the enemies when really we could have address problems like frizz and screwy wave and curly patterns with better leave in products instead of this super inconvenient and complicated sulfate and silicon free regimen that can so wrong sooooo easily. It has been really liberating to forget everythng I thought I knew about textured hair care and just go back to basically the hair routine I had in high school and college when by the way pictures indicate my hair looked pretty great.
