The other day I was at the NATS game, and saw this women drinking a slip of beer... She had a 6 week old baby, and then I saw her breakfast feeding..... Why are people doing this now?
As someone who had their 7 week old in the PICU for days fighting to breath due to her baby picking up a virus in public, I am not so worried about a sip of beer. People do not realize how dangerous it is to have young babies out in public like this. Sure a quick run to the grocery store with the baby in a carrier is probably going to be ok but I very much judge the parents who have their baby in a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd where people are yelling and shouting (spit and droplets) all around. To me the sip of beer is not the problem here.
I’m sorry your baby spent time in the PICU. I’m sure that was anxiety inducing. I had a toddler hospitalized and on oxygen for 4 days with RSV so I get it’s scary. However, an outdoor baseball game in May (which is not even a peak virus season) seems very low risk for catching anything. We aren’t talking about a crowded indoor venue in the middle of January. Also, whenever I go to a Nats game there always seems to be gaps amongst the crowd. I’ve never been shoulder to shoulder with anyone. You seem to be projecting your experience onto something with any relevant facts.
