IME, I did and for years, many people including coworkers assumed I was gay. I found myself being hit on by many more lesbians than before.  Later, I got married and introduced my coworker to my husband and she said “Marrried?! But what about Larla?” She had always assumed I was gay and dating my best friend/co-worker.

I don’t why people would just make that assumption over hair. I would never do it again. It didn’t matter that I worked makeup and jewelry. Just having short hair confused too many people. [/quote]

I think this is super sad.  My 15 year old got a pixie before freshman year last year at a new high school.  She was literally the only freshman with short hair.  Everyone assumed she was a lesbian.  She is growing it out, even though she looks great with short hair.[/quote]

Sadly, the same thing happened to my DD. I saw it coming, but she wanted it so I said ok. She loved the cut, but after a year of people calling her "Bud," "Dude," and a guy, she started growing it out.[/quote]
