Truly amazing how a post about childcare has morphed into an argument against “welfare.” Keep it classy, DCUM.
I know, right? Somewhere in the recent 3 decades, we have lost the thread. We think having kids is a privilege and a choice only for the wealthy. And here I thought that DCUM population is highly educated.
Misogyny and capitalism are so intrinsically linked and there is so much ignorance about that. The idea that maternity leave is welfare is mind boggling. Losing women from the workforce because women are quitting to stay at home with their children is bad for the economy. A thriving society needs healthy young people and healthy young people are pretty much universally well taken care of children. And the idea that anyone who has a child while they still have student loans or without owning a home is jumping the shark is disgusting and borderline eugenics.
