Imagine a woman walks in on a man raping her grade school aged child. She pulls her legally owned and carried firearm from her holster and shoots him dead. Is she a scumbag who should go to prison for life with no chance for parole?

Imagine a young man - late teen years - shoots and kills his grandfather who has systematically and brutally bullied and beaten him and his siblings and other members of the family for decades. Is he a scumbag who should go to prison for life with no chance for parole?
