Truth.
BSC discourages kids from playing up regardless of their talent and size
Probably driven by parental and player jealousy and wanting to avoid the drama
That's tricky, playing up might be better for a younger player but that kid is taking the spot/time of another player in that age group.
If they're playing up, it's their spot and time They're not guesting
Tell that to the last kid cut from the top team, the club doesn't know what 10 year old will be in the top 5 in five years.
So, the current top year team in each age group should be exclusively for kids in that age? So, if that kid a year below is in the top 1/3 even when playing up, he should stay in his age group, dominate, and not improve thus stalling his development? Simply because he earned the right to the spot but you want preferential access to 1st team? Do I have this right? Anything wrong with playing 2nd team and earning your way to 1st team?
I am trying to put myself in the club's shoes. There are plenty of clubs like SYC that will push kids up, I think it's really the parents, a 10 year old isn't pushing to play with older players. If you want your kid to play up, there are plenty of clubs that will do it - probably not Bethesda. They've also lost lots of players to DC United, many of whom were playing up because they were the best players. So, the club loses out again.
Why say pushing to play up? Are the clubs moving a kid to an older age group and the kid can't play at the older level?
I would be shocked if clubs like BSC or SYC are moving any kid up without the parents pushing for it. I think it's a way that some clubs will pull players, "hey, we'll play him up". Achilles does that, Juventus does that, BSC does not do that.
You're saying they don't have quality coaches who knows if a early developer needs to play up for more of a challenge?
No, not at all. If a kid is playing on a top team at BSC, he's being challenged. There will always be exceptions, I just don't know any of them right now.
