Not sure if anyone already mentioned this, but one of the members of the Harvard admission committee had mentioned in some article that she has never had anyone with clout approach her to accept an Asian American student but that people approach her on a regular basis for admission for Caucasian American kids with connections. Sorry for being so vague.... On a totally different note, why is so much in this country based on connections? Kids who have relatives with connections go places even with a mediocre resume. Same happens to adults in the workforce. I suppose this may actually be worse in some countries where there is more disparity betw the haves and have nots.
Maybe she wasn't approached but that doesn't mean someone else was not. There are plenty of kids of Asian Billionaires who go to these schools who are undeserving.. I'm AsianAmerican and to be honest I don't care about the quota. It forces you to work harder, so what. If you are in the position to work harder you already have a head start on the children born in war zones or the untouchable class of India. They never even get a chance. Life is not fair. Make the most of what you have and become the best of what you can be. College is only one hurdle. If you want to accomplish something in life it's a long, long road.
