let's just keep our feet on the ground. my kids are at a JKLM elementary school and we love it, but thinking that people may trek all the way from VA to upper NW because our schools are superior to suburban elementary schools is just BS. I knew a family who cheated (found out years after the fact) taking their kids to upper NW schools and the did it because both parents worked in Tenley and it was convenient for them to drop off and pick up immediately before and after work. they had a long commute so they would have paid $$$ for before and after care and probably even a babysitter to pick up kids from aftercare.  the fact that the schools were good was also a great bonus, but they would have cheated even if the schools were comparable or even less good than the ones in their areas.  there will be cheaters until DCPS gets serious on enforcement, which is not just kicking kids out of the school, but also making them pay for back tuition ALWAYS, even if it takes years and years to get the entire payment.  now cheaters are simply kicked out, so for people who are dishonest there is no incentive not to try (at worst they are just kicked out). Let me get you on record here: do you not think Janney, Key and Mann are superior to suburban elementary schools in VA and MD? How about superior to some number of schools greater than "all of PG county" but less than "every school"? [/quote]

I am not a bro (if anything, I would be a sis ...) I am just a JKLM parent who wishes that DCPS took a sterner position against cheaters and who is very happy about her kids' experience at said JKLM school without having to believe that our school is the best elementary school in the metropolitan area and that people who drive from Fairfax or Arlington so their kids can attend such marvelous school.  nobody cares of what I say on record (??) but since I do not know every single elementary school in VA and MD I cannot certainly say whether Janney, Key and Mann are better of VA and MD (plus I do not have a direct experience on at least two of these schools either).  and frankly I find these kinds of statements (the best elementary school in DC, area, east coast, which JKLM is the best and so on) totally ridiculous.   I have friends in MOCO and VA who seem very happy with their kids' school and based on my conversations with them I am fairly sure their schools offer the same opportunities for a great education.  are you so insecure that you need somebody else to tell you that JKM are better than some more than "all PG county"?  are you for real? You're replying to me. I agree with pretty much all of your statements. I took issue with your initial claim "thinking that people may trek all the way from VA to upper NW because our schools are superior to suburban elementary schools is just BS." The implication is that the schools in question are not sufficiently desirable (i.e., good) to sometimes warrant such a trek. This is mistaken. That is all. [/quote]
