So much ignorance and no-nothingism on this thread. First of all, The Post's Challenge Index is merely a measure of how many kids are taking AP tests. Blair is the largest school in the state of Maryland, and a lot of those kids are not college-bound. The college-bound kids, they're doing just fine, as the college admission results indicate every year. Here's the funny thing: I've lived in the Blair community for 20 years and I know a lot of families. For all the supposed problems that are alleged about Blair on this site, I've never met anyone--let me emphasize ANYONE--who has expressed dissatisfaction about Blair, apart from a few kids who were overwhelmed by the size. Are these families ignorant? Hardly; many of them have multiple advanced degrees. So what does that tell you? The kids are happy, their parents are happy, and at graduation time, the college-bound kids go to really good colleges. And this all happens in a school that demographically resembles the real world far more than the whiter schools in the richer parts of our county. For some reason, this seems to drive some people on this site crazy. I'll leave it for the psychologists and sociologists to figure out why that is.
